We took our boys camping last month with some other brave parents & friends. We drove an hour and a half from our house to a beautiful state park called Rock Island. It was perfect. It had a lake, falls, trails, separate campsites for tents only…the list goes on. We will definitely go back next year.
It was raining when we left Nashville, but cleared up about half way there. The air was cool and crisp. Our friends and their little ones were near. The leaves were all the right colors of red, yellow, brown. Good food and fires were made. Our boys were free to roam about and skip naps. The hardest part about camping with kids is the lack of sleep at night. It got pretty cold (and we even brought a little space heater and lamb skins!) so it was difficult for them to actually sleep. The photo of my husband’s face in the morning tells that story. But it’s worth it.
